Application Engineering / Purchasing guide
A case shell is only one part of a protective enclosure. Define the internal equipment envelope, hinges, latches, seals and handling interfaces before approving the shell geometry. A rigid-looking case photograph does not establish impact, water-ingress or transport performance for a particular application.

Start from the contents
Identify the equipment and its required access, clearance and internal support arrangement. Show protrusions, connectors and the space needed to remove the equipment. If inserts or lining are supplied separately, define their interface to the shell instead of leaving the internal arrangement until after tooling.
Map the hardware and closure
Show hinge and latch positions, handle interfaces and the intended opening motion. Identify any sealing requirement through the responsible design process. Clarify which hardware is included in the quotation and which items are customer-supplied, with their references and revisions.
Separate geometry from protective claims
Approve fit and operation using the actual equipment and hardware configuration. State any application-specific test or acceptance requirements separately. Do not label the case waterproof, impact-rated or transport-certified unless the applicable evidence exists for that configuration.
Information to include in your enquiry
| Review item | Information to provide |

| Closure | Opening motion and any specified seal interface |
| Verification | Fit, operation and separately agreed performance tests |

Frequently asked questions
Is a shell enough to promise equipment protection?
No. Protection depends on the complete case design and the relevant verification.
Should hardware be selected before shell approval?
Define its interface early so the shell geometry and attachment details can be reviewed together.
