Machining & Assembly / Purchasing guide
Slots and internal corners deserve explicit attention because their function may be hidden in a complex outline. Explain whether a slot locates hardware, provides adjustment or simply creates clearance. The supplier can then review the geometry against its intended purpose rather than treating every opening as an interchangeable cut-out.

State what the slot does
Identify the mating component and its movement, if any. Mark the features that establish the slot location. If the slot permits adjustment, show the required usable range instead of leaving that range to be inferred from an overall length. Include the relevant assembly view when the function is not obvious.
Resolve corner geometry before production
Dimension internal radii and end shapes that matter to fit. Ask the supplier to flag geometry it proposes to change for manufacture. Do not approve a general “machining adjustment” without checking whether the adjusted corner or slot end affects the mating part.
Check the usable opening
Choose an inspection method that reflects the functional opening rather than only its bounding box. Where a gauge or mating sample is used, control its identity. Keep cosmetic edge expectations separate from the dimensional checks, so both can be evaluated consistently.

Frequently asked questions
Can a sharp internal corner be left to the machinist?
Request a feasibility review and agree the final geometry; do not leave a functional detail unspecified.
Should every slot have the same end shape?
No. Specify the shape needed by its function and review the proposed manufacturing detail.
Discuss your carbon fiber component
Send your drawing revision, intended application, quantity and acceptance requirements to Litian Yunde for a project review.
