A safety data sheet explains hazard-related information for an identified material. A technical data sheet describes product characteristics and, where supplied, processing or application information. They should not be treated as interchangeable attachments to an enquiry.

A certificate of conformity records a declaration against identified requirements. A test report records a particular test and its results. One document may refer to the other, but asking for a “certificate” without defining its purpose can produce the wrong evidence.

Freezer life and out life are different material-control terms. Their limits and conditions come from the specific prepreg supplier documentation. A remaining freezer-life figure alone does not tell a production team how much permitted out-time remains.

A component used for a destructive check may no longer be available for installation. If an order needs both test pieces and usable parts, put those quantities on separate lines. Otherwise, a completed production count can hide a short delivery.

A lead-time estimate is only useful when both parties mean the same start and finish. For a custom carbon fiber component, an enquiry date, drawing release, tooling approval and production release can be different events. Ask which one starts the quoted period.

“Good appearance” is difficult to inspect consistently. A cosmetic-zone drawing identifies where the surface matters most and where a different agreed condition is acceptable. It helps connect an approved sample with the installed view of the component.

For a custom component enquiry, send the model format the supplier can work with and a drawing that states the requirements. STEP and STL are not interchangeable descriptions. A file that opens on screen can still be missing the detail needed for a manufacturing review.

When a customer supplies hardware for a carbon fiber assembly, record exactly what is handed over, what the supplier is expected to do with it and how unused or unsuitable items are handled. Hardware ownership alone does not define inspection, storage, assembly, loss reporting or replacement responsibility.

Artwork approval on a curved carbon fiber part should cover orientation, location and the viewing condition, not just the flat graphic file. Identify the supplied finish and application process. A correct logo file can still be positioned incorrectly on a handed or curved component.

A repeat order should reference the approved definition, not simply ask for “the same as last time.” Confirm the drawing revision, material identity, finish reference and any agreed deviations.
