A split clamp needs room to close as intended around the tube. If the clamp halves or ears contact each other first, tightening the bolt further does not automatically establish the intended grip. Include the closing gap in the assembly review alongside the tube contact region.
Inspect the assembled condition
Show the clamp on the actual tube size and identify where any remaining gap is checked. A gap on a loose clamp does not describe its installed state. Keep shims, liners or coatings in the configuration if they belong to the proposed assembly.
Separate bolt torque from contact
The specified tightening instruction applies to the identified hardware and clamp arrangement. A torque value alone cannot tell whether the ears have bottomed out or the intended contact has developed. Do not respond to slipping by simply prescribing more torque from a generic guide.
Retain the fit-review evidence
If a clamp size, liner or tube diameter changes, repeat the relevant assembly review under the applicable procedure. Record the contact arrangement and observed closing condition. A photograph of a remaining gap is useful context, but it does not prove pull-out, torsional retention or laminate integrity. Those acceptance questions need the agreed evidence for the complete joint.
