Carbon fiber automotive hood panel reference.
For a custom automotive panel, the external surface and the attachment geometry need separate definition. A smooth rendered shape is not enough to quote a part that must fit the vehicle.
Provide the surfaces that control fit
Supply the exterior model alongside the mating flange, hinge, latch or support geometry. Mark which surfaces are appearance-critical and which are hidden. Where a vehicle or reference part is available, agree how its geometry will be captured and which version is the design reference.
Review assembly before surface approval
Check access for installation and removal, clearance around adjoining panels and the treatment of edges. Ask for the sample review to include both the visible surface and the attachment arrangement. Approval of a glossy face should not silently approve an untested mounting detail or a change to a structural function.
Example scenario
An exterior model is approved, but the sample arrives without a defined hinge-side flange. The visible shape may be correct while the installation remains unresolved. Add the mating flange and attachment details to the controlled model before releasing the next sample.
Points to record
| Visible surface | Identify finish, weave direction and appearance zones. |
|---|---|
| Attachment geometry | Provide mounting points, mating parts and installation access. |
| Sample review | Record fit checks separately from appearance checks. |
