Custom Manufacturing / Purchasing guide
A custom shell drawing should identify more than the outside appearance. Review where the part separates from tooling, where edges will be trimmed and which surfaces must match another component. These details belong in the design discussion before an attractive rendering is treated as an approved manufacturing definition.

Provide the complete geometry
Include the underside, openings and mating edges, not only the view visible to the customer. Show the required installed position. If the design begins as a reference object or scan, agree how the final geometry will be documented and approved before tooling work proceeds.
Mark appearance and interface zones
Identify surfaces where a joint line or trimmed edge matters cosmetically, and distinguish them from surfaces that establish fit. Ask the supplier to show proposed split and trim locations. Review those locations with the intended assembly and service access in mind rather than evaluating them on a standalone rendering.
Approve the supplied part condition
Clarify which openings and edges are molded, machined or trimmed after forming. Record the accepted sample condition and the inspection approach for key interfaces. This prevents a later disagreement over whether an unfinished trial edge was an intentional feature or simply part of development.

Frequently asked questions
Can an exterior rendering define a complete shell?
No. Hidden geometry and interfaces still need to be resolved.
Should split lines be approved with the first production order?
Review them during development so they are part of the controlled design before production release.
Discuss your carbon fiber component
Send your drawing revision, intended application, quantity and acceptance requirements to Litian Yunde for a project review.
