The concern, disposition, work and reinspection form a traceable sequence rather than a cosmetic before/after claim.

Reworked Carbon Fibre Parts: Keep the Disposition and Reinspection Record

If a carbon fibre part is altered after a concern is raised, retain the approved disposition and the resulting inspection record. A better-looking photograph does not explain what changed, which requirement was reassessed or which part was returned.

Identify the original concern

Connect the concern to the part or lot, the applicable drawing and the affected location. Preserve the original photographs and measurements. The disposition should identify what is authorised for that item; reporting a concern does not itself authorise an unspecified repair or removal of material.

Keep the work scope visible

Where rework, repair, replacement or acceptance under an agreed disposition is proposed, retain the exact decision and responsible approval in the project record. These terms can have different meanings under the applicable contract or quality procedure. Do not silently treat them as interchangeable, or publish a general repair procedure for an unidentified laminate.

Close against the relevant requirements

Record the returned item identity and the checks required after the authorised work. Keep before-and-after evidence separate. If an engineering assessment or downstream assembly check remains pending, say so rather than changing the overall status to accepted. The purpose of the handover is to show the concern, decision, performed scope and resulting evidence as a continuous record. It is not to erase the history once a surface looks improved.

Original and resulting evidence remain separate and linked to the affected item.
