A cable opening needs more than a hole diameter. Specify the grommet or edge protection, panel thickness range, connector passage and cable movement envelope. Treat electrical isolation and environmental sealing as separate requirements that need their own design and evidence.

Tightening torque, pull-out resistance and repeated assembly performance describe different aspects of a threaded insert. Specify which loads and service conditions matter, then agree representative tests. A thread gauge result alone does not qualify the insert’s attachment to the composite.

A bonded carbon fiber joint should define both overlap and the adhesive gap. More overlap is not a complete joint specification, and a visually thin glue line is not automatically better. Use the adhesive supplier’s instructions and validate the actual joint configuration.

When a carbon fiber component contacts metal, describe the whole interface: the metal grade, contact area, environment, hardware and any intended isolation or surface treatment.

Choosing between bonding, mechanical fastening or a combined joint requires an assembly review.

Slots and internal corners deserve explicit attention because their function may be hidden in a complex outline.

A fastener hole should be specified as part of its hardware interface.

A CNC quotation becomes easier to assess when the drawing separates geometry, material, finish and acceptance requirements.

A machined carbon fiber part begins with a defined stock material and ends with an agreed edge and surface condition. Quoting only the outline leaves important parts of the supply scope unresolved.
