Follow the selected prepreg’s handling instruction when bringing stored material into the layup environment. The packaging condition matters because cold material can be exposed to moisture when opened too early. A storage removal time alone does not show how the material was handled.
Read the instruction for that material
Gurit’s prepreg guidance discusses warming material in its packaging before use. Apply the relevant instruction for the actual system and roll. Do not turn a generic thawing illustration into one waiting time for every roll size, material temperature or workshop condition.
Plan the handover to the cutting area
Identify who checks the material status and packaging before opening. Retain the roll or kit identity so the handling record follows the material that reaches layup. If material arrives already opened, record that observed condition instead of assuming it followed the same sequence as an unopened roll.
Keep handling and life limits connected
Thawing does not reset freezer life or out-life allowances. Continue the supplier-defined time and storage records while following the applicable handling process. Any moisture concern or uncertain history needs the responsible material review. The useful record describes the actual packaging and release condition without treating a dry-looking surface as proof that the entire handling history was acceptable.
