Carbon Fiber Assembly Kits: Count Sets and Individual Parts Separately

An order for ten kits is not an order for ten of every listed item unless the kit definition says so. A carbon fiber assembly-kit enquiry should state the quantity of each component per set, the number of sets and any separately supplied spares.

Make the set definition explicit

Identify each component and revision, including hardware or pads supplied by other parties. State the per-kit quantity and whether handed parts or matched items have separate identities. A photograph of an assembled set is useful context, but not a substitute for a controlled item list.

Separate assembly and packing scope

A kit may arrive as loose grouped parts, a partially assembled unit or a completed assembly. Specify the intended delivered condition and any identification or grouping requirements. The supplier should not have to infer assembly labour or packing groups from the word “kit.”

Reconcile delivered counts

Check the required set count against the actual component quantities. Spares and inspection allocations should be listed separately so they are not silently taken from usable kits. When one item changes, review the kit revision and any affected instructions. This complements a service parts list by defining the commercial and packing unit for the current delivery.
