Peel ply is a removable fabric that can leave a textured composite surface. Release film separates process layers and may have a defined perforation pattern. They have different roles, so a request for a “peelable layer” is too vague to identify the required process or delivered condition.
A material name, product reference and process position are more useful than a generic colour or appearance description. Products within either group can differ. The Airtech peel-ply information, for example, describes a particular product rather than a universal surface-preparation instruction for all composites.
A removed fabric does not automatically qualify a bond surface
If the final surface is to be bonded, its preparation needs to suit the chosen adhesive and controlled process. Do not assume that a textured surface is clean, compatible or already approved. State whether the peel ply remains on the supplied part, when it will be removed and what subsequent preparation is required by the agreed joining process.
Preserve the handover condition
A sample with the process fabric still attached is not the same delivery state as an exposed, prepared surface. Identify the protected region and keep it separate from cosmetic or finished contact faces. If the auxiliary material changes, review the effect on the downstream operation. Clear handover wording avoids two parties each assuming the other has completed the final preparation.
