For an e-mobility enclosure, describe the actual heat exposure before selecting a laminate or coating. The words carbon fiber do not establish a temperature rating or a fire-protection function.
Describe the operating and service conditions
Identify nearby heat sources, expected exposure and whether the cover is removed during service. Provide requirements from the responsible system designer rather than a generic statement such as heat resistant. Include adhesives, coatings and seals in the proposed configuration.
Request evidence for the finished assembly
Ask which material and assembly evaluations support the intended use and what their limits are. A value from a different resin or a bare-fibre datasheet cannot be applied automatically to the cover. Keep any fire or electrical protection claim separate and supported by the relevant complete-system evaluation.
Example scenario
An enclosure supplier quotes a resin value without identifying the coating and bonded seal used on the finished cover. Ask for the scope of the value and the proposed assembly review. Keep the bare-material statement separate from the enclosure’s claimed operating limit.
Points to record
| Exposure brief | Identify heat sources and project-defined conditions. |
|---|---|
| Material system | List resin, coating, adhesive and seals. |
| Evidence match | Tie claimed limits to the supplied assembly. |
