The same external diameter can enclose a solid section or a hollow tube.

Solid Carbon Fiber Rod or Hollow Tube? Show the Cross-Section

A solid rod and a hollow tube can share an outside diameter while having different cross-sections. State which one is required. An external photograph or a request for a carbon fiber pole does not resolve whether the centre is solid, hollow or occupied by another material.

Put the section on the enquiry

For a hollow member, identify the required bore and wall definition as well as the outside geometry. For a solid member, state that construction explicitly. If another core or insert is proposed, keep it visible in the section instead of describing the whole item only by its outside diameter.

Include the end interfaces

The required construction affects how end fittings, cable passages or other interfaces can be reviewed. Do not approve a hollow replacement for a solid member, or the reverse, solely because both fit the same external clamp. The actual laminate and manufacturing proposal still need identification.

Compare the represented members

A mass or stiffness comparison needs the complete supplied construction and the relevant component requirements. Avoid assigning a universal advantage from the presence or absence of a bore. Keep the section, material definition and fitted hardware with the sample record. When placing a repeat order, refer to that controlled definition rather than relying on a stock photograph that shows only the outer surface.

An outside clamp fit and the internal end-interface requirements are separate parts of the review.
