Machining & Assembly · Component review guide · Litian Yunde
Review the connector and the cable. Original explanatory schematic; not to scale and not a product test result.
A cable opening needs more than a hole diameter. Specify the grommet or edge protection, panel thickness range, connector passage and cable movement envelope. Treat electrical isolation and environmental sealing as separate requirements that need their own design and evidence.
Start with the item that must pass through
A cable may fit through an opening while its terminated connector does not. State whether the cable is installed before or after termination and whether a split grommet is required. Show the connector envelope and assembly sequence. If the opening is hidden after installation, consider how the installer confirms that the protective feature is seated correctly.
Match the protection to the finished edge
The grommet’s groove must accommodate the finished panel edge, including any specified coating. Identify the component and its intended retention detail rather than asking for “rubber around the hole.” A cut edge, a chamfered edge and a molded lip may need different arrangements. Confirm the final opening and edge condition before ordering the protective component in quantity.
Review movement and maintenance
Draw the cable route, bend space and nearby moving parts. A stationary clearance check does not cover movement during servicing or operation. Define how the cable is supported so the opening is not unintentionally used as strain relief. Where sealing or electrical isolation is required, specify the corresponding system-level verification rather than inferring it from the presence of a grommet.

Example: a removable control-unit cover
The cable clears the opening when the cover is installed, but its connector catches when the cover is lifted for service. The revised drawing includes the removal path, a selected split grommet and an internal cable restraint. The sample check covers installation and removal with the actual connector, not just the bare cable.

| Movement envelope | Bend space, removal path and cable restraint. |
| Separate requirements | Sealing, electrical isolation and verification method. |
Fragen, die Käufer stellen
Does a grommet make the enclosure waterproof?
No. Sealing depends on the complete assembly and must be separately specified and verified.
Can the cable rest against an untreated cut edge?
The routing design should address contact and wear rather than leaving the condition undefined.
