Freezer life and out life are different material-control terms. Their limits and conditions come from the specific prepreg supplier documentation. A remaining freezer-life figure alone does not tell a production team how much permitted out-time remains.
Read the designation before the headline value
A prepreg system includes a particular resin and reinforcement specification. Different systems have different published handling conditions. Toray’s product information, for example, lists freezer life and out life separately for named systems. Those values should not be transferred to an unrelated material or treated as a general rule for carbon fiber.
Keep the history attached to the material
A useful record identifies the roll or batch, supplier documentation and relevant storage and removal events under the agreed procedure. Distinguish the documented supplier limit from the remaining allowance calculated for the material being considered. If history is missing, mark it as unresolved rather than reconstructing it from an estimated production date.
Resolve material status before scheduling production
Ask which record controls release of the material for the planned operation and who reviews exceptions. A purchase enquiry can request the required traceability and documentation without prescribing an improvised handling process. This is a material-status question, separate from adhesive pot life during mixing and application. Where material is substituted, changed or requalified, retain the approval record with the component revision.

For the project review: exact prepreg system and batch; supplier-defined conditions and limits; recorded handling history; material release decision and exceptions.
