Carbon fiber console trim shown with a vehicle interior reference.
Interior trim should be assessed for both its visible finish and its installation arrangement. A weave pattern that looks right in isolation may not align with adjacent parts once fitted.
Identify the visible face and orientation
Mark the installed top, left and right sides, and specify any relationship between the weave directions of neighbouring pieces. Provide an appearance reference and distinguish reflections in photographs from the actual finish requirement.
Check the full installation scope
Identify clips, adhesive or other fixing methods in the supplied arrangement. Review edge clearances and access to nearby controls in the intended assembly. Keep the approval record specific: accepted appearance does not establish fit across every vehicle variant or any untested safety function.
Example scenario
Two neighbouring trim pieces use the same fabric pattern but are oriented differently in the vehicle. Mark the installed orientation and the intended visual relationship on the approval reference before accepting the pair as a matching set.
Points to record
| Appearance reference | Define visible face, finish and installed orientation. |
|---|---|
| Variant reference | Identify the vehicle and neighbouring trim. |
| Fixing scope | List retained parts and supplied attachment items. |
