State which items are removed after the operation. This makes a discussion about a bag-side surface more precise than describing the whole upper stack simply as the bag.

Describe the intended function

The supplier may use a caul to control an identified surface or distribute contact during processing. The name alone does not establish a flatness tolerance, surface finish or pressure distribution for every part.

Retain the represented arrangement

A sample made with one caul arrangement should not silently become approval for a different one.
