Static stiffness and vibration behaviour are related, but they are not the same requirement. A tube can show little movement under a slow load and still respond strongly to a motor, impact or repeating motion near an assembly resonance.

A panel that feels rigid on a workbench can bend noticeably when it projects beyond a mounting bracket. The unsupported length, load position and restraint at the bracket all matter. Specifying only thickness leaves most of that problem unanswered.
A plate weight estimate starts with the finished material volume and a density for the proposed laminate. The weight of a sheet bought for machining answers a different question: how much material is purchased, rather than how much remains in the component.
